Saban's Richard Yen
A new member of a brand new VC fund, Richard Yen commutes from San Francisco to Century City. The fund is Saban Capital Group; it brings strong ties to music, television and media markets. Founder Haim Saban's big hits: the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, ABC's Family Channel and UNIVISION. How new is Saban? No fundings yet, but they do have a term sheet out.
Richard was placed at Blueprint Ventures through the Kauffman's Fellows Program. While there he focused on digital media and the internet space which he's putting to use at Saban.
How did we meet? A common friend, Greg Galant who produces the Venture Voice podcast was recently visiting from NY and introduced us.

Love the show and have listened to all of your online interviews. Don't know if you've seen this new program on television produced by the BBC called the Dragons Den. If not I think you'd really enjoy it. Basically it has 5 major investors presented with business opportunities from the London area. People are given a fair amount of time to pitch their investment, followed by questions and answers. It's fun to see how each investor questions the opportunity and some of the projects get funded on the spot.
Also want to thank you and others in your Angel group for allowing me to attend meetings and learn more about the process of dealing with investors. Because of that education I have been successful in attracting funds for my Art Garden project and a television program on the arts.
Much thanks.
