Thanks Frank for those links that eventually lead to a link for thisweekinstartups.com another good forum and resource.
I read Mark's critique of TCA's website. Obviously what TCA views as a strength others see as a weakness. TCA appears to be trying to be all things to all people.
The website is full of hype with little or no information for an entrepreneur to determine if TCA is worth his time and effort. The website claims "ten years of excellence". The word "excellence" is a way of side stepping the word "success".
If TCA is not proud of its past returns, it's better to have a positive forward looking statement rather than trying to dress up the image of the past.
The past is what it is and nothing is going to change that. The hype makes TCA look too image conscious and too sensitive.
Perhaps TCA should ask itself, what quality of entrepreneur responds to that type of hype. If TCA is satisfied with the quality it wouldnt be trying to put the best possible spin on the past. Venture investing is a now business. Like the old investment disclaimer states, past returns or not indicative of future success.
What is TCA poised and ready to do right now? It is impossible to tell from the website. The website does not give the quality entrepreneur with a quality deal the information s/he needs to justify spending time on TCA.
