Scientists and Engineers wanna be Entrepreneurs, too

at UCIrvineLast night I had the honor of speaking at the Entrepreneurship Course for Scientists and Engineers at the Henry Samueli School of Engineering at UCIrvine. It was my 3rd year in a row presenting to this class. My friend Goran Matijasevic instructs and brings in a speaker a week to address the students. I can relate to this audience and we all shared a few laughs.

Last night's topic: An Angel in LA, a blend of my entrepreneurial journey mixed with dance photography and stories of the Tech Coast Angels.

Check out the schedule; all the guest lectures are free and open to the public.

See me in Austin on April 21st for the Texas Entrepreneur Funding Symposium. I'll keynote.

Wonderful to see that your ladder to heaven just seems to get longer and higher!

Wishing you a Healthy and Happy 2010.

Warmest regards, Alan

Speaking at a university is truly charitable of you. When faculty or students seek funding to start a business using a technology they have developed, they always seek VCs before Angels. When Angels are approached with university developed technology it is after VCs have turned it down.

To get first crack at the good stuff, Angels will have to do what universities do, fund the IP. If Angels do that, the same VCs that are looking for deals in universities will also look to see what the Angels have to offer.
